Ganahl Lumber Retail Store
(# 614)
The large program on an awkward shaped site gave form to the building. The design team maximized the footprint and cantilevered the third floor clearing site easements while meeting program requirements. The Center makes a direct connection to the campus quad with a façade primarily composed of protected glazing. The building entry opens at the intersection of the major pedestrian paths with a naturally ventilated lobby where a 50’ high climbing wall marks the terminus of the pedestrian walkways.
The project is tracking LEED NC Gold certification and beats Title-24 by 31.3%. Sustainable strategies included displacement ventilation, natural daylighting, natural ventilation and solar control.Click on thumbnails to open windows with larger images
