Academy of Architecture in Health (AAH) / Healthcare CommitteeWe are pleased to announce that Brian Cravens, AIA, with Arcadis and M. Ferial Asadies, AIA with HDR started a Healthcare Committee as a part of the AIA Pasadena and Foothill Chapter since 2018. This group is affiliated with the AIA AAH and shares the mission of “Striving to educate and inspire the healthcare design and planning communities.” Our goal is to create a platform for the Pasadena and Foothill healthcare community to present their work and provide opportunities for networking. We plan to have up to four (4) presentation meetings/events per year. If you are interested in joining the Healthcare Group, please contact Brian, Ferial or the chapter office! Brian Cravens, AIA Brian Cravens is a licensed architect with over 35 years of diverse experience. His project experience includes healthcare (hospital, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, and medical office buildings), mixed-use, senior housing, civic and municipal facilities, religious buildings, commercial offices, restaurants, single-family custom and multi-family residential. He is currently involved with projects at Cedars-Sinai, Loma Linda University, UC Irvine Health, and Huntington Hospital. Brian was the project architect of the Green House Project prototype in California which was the basis for the small home model for skilled nursing facilities in the CBC. He is a past president of the AIA P&F Chapter and the current co-founder/co-chair of the AIA P&F Academy of Architecture in Health since 2018. Currently serving as one of ten Global Research Fellows for Arcadis and a Cultural Champion for the Los Angeles Office as part of an international team. M. Ferial Asadies, AIA, ARB (UK), LEED AP Ferial is a healthcare futurist focusing on regenerative design and equity in healthcare. With 22 years of experience in design, programming, and project management for healthcare facilities in the U.K. and the U.S., Ferial has focused her design philosophy on creating healing spaces that engage and inspire patients, their loved ones, and caregivers alike. Both her work and reputation illustrate passion, motivation, and a commitment to the clients with whom she partners, rooted in deep project involvement from inception to completion. As the health market leader for HDR’s Los Angeles office, Ferial nurtures new client relationships and spearheads project delivery efforts. She has been the co-founder and co-chair of the AIA PF Academy of Architecture in Health since 2018. Edwin Najarian, P.E, S.E Edwin is leading structural teams of IMEG in Pasadena, Anaheim, and San Diego. Has been practicing structural engineering for more than 24 years. He has led the design and analysis of several billion dollars in new construction and heavily involved in seismic retrofit of existing Healthcare SPC, NPC projects. Picasso Bhowmik Picasso brings nearly twenty years of knowledge and expertise to PNG Builders, located in Irwindale, CA. As a leader in the construction industry, his well-rounded understanding of the construction process and overall knowledge of the industry have enabled him to lead large complex ground-up projects to technical TI projects in sectors such as healthcare, energy, and mixed-use facilities. |
