sports do not build character, they reveal it" (# 352)

In order to ignite Lake Kenyir, Malaysia as an attractive tourist destination, the project introduces a sports and recreation center to the site and its surroundings. Utilizing a program that has fully permeated into the Malaysian culture, the sports and recreation center provides the local demographic a venue to play their favorite sports in and also offers a foreign audience a stadium that is able to host large scale sporting events. Architecturally, the building emerges from the landscape, with the green roof seamlessly integrated into the hill. This bold and yet unassuming gesture augments the landscape and creates a dynamic roof that features a running track and observation areas. The project̢۪s success lies in the fact that it serves an immediate solution for the local demographic but also projects future usage and development, thereby enabling Lake Kenyir to become a hot tourist destination.
