The AIA Pasadena & Foothill Chapter recognized architects, engineers, contractors, and students who submitted their work for the 2026 Rebuild Design Awards — a program  celebrating innovative, resilient, and community-focused design responses to the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

This initiative honored creative design solutions that help communities rebuild — from single-family homes to shared spaces — and showcases how thoughtful design can restore hope and inspire connection.

Charles Bryant , AIA

(Masbuild)

Charles T Bryant is the principal architect and Co-Owner of Masbuild Design Solutions. With forty years of experience in design and construction. He is a Past president of So Cal NOMA, (National Organization of minority Architects), and Past President of PF AIA, (American Institute of Architects). The first African American President in its 73-year history. Prior to co-founding Masbuild Design Solutions, he led the award-winning firm of Charles T. Bryant & Associates. Mr. Bryant has long provided services to underserved and marginalized communities to include communities of color, senior citizens, veterans, and housing insecurity. He is also a resident of Altadena; his home is one of the many casualties of the Eaton fire and he is in the process of assisting his community in the rebuilding process. 


Kishani De Silva 

(Woodbury University)

Kishani De silva is an experienced management professional with progressive expertise in the project and major program management arenas. She is the founder and principal of her own arts, architecture and design management consultancy 2A+D Management Services, LLC and is a professor at Woodbury University teaching architecture, management and sustainability. She was also the inaugural chair of a brand-new construction management program at Woodbury University and the lead faculty on the first permitted 3D printed, net zero, dwelling in Los Angeles. 



David Donahue

(True Vantage Homes)

David Donahue is the Founder of TrueVantage Homes, a full design-build Prefabricated Home & ADU company and licensed California manufactured home dealership. He specializes in factory-built, modular, and HUD-code homes, delivering fire-resilient housing solutions that help homeowners rebuild faster and smarter across Southern California.

Ji Xia

(XIA Structural Engineers, Inc.)

Ji Xia, PE, SE, is Principal of XIA Structural Engineers, Inc., based in Pasadena, California. He has extensive experience in residential structural engineering, with work ranging from apartment buildings and multifamily projects to custom single-family homes and complex hillside residences. His recent work has also included numerous fire-rebuild projects in Altadena and Pacific Palisades, giving him direct insight into the challenges and opportunities of rebuilding in fire-affected communities. As a juror for this AIA design award program, he brings a practical perspective on resilience, constructability, and the integration of structural design with architectural intent.
