Emergent Waterscape: An Urban Exploration for Ceremony and Functionality (# 378)

Through the poetics of water a landscape of partial architectures emerges as a modern ruin, with the aim of discovering new boundaries in an oscillating landscape of time and the natural conditions.  Through the ancient ritual of public bathing, this project merges the dual characteristics of water as both a resource and an amenity. By developing a functional system for water a narrative landscape of recurring events will incite a renewed sense of environment. The viewer will be engaged in a scenic narrative and experience that is choreographed by multifaceted qualities of water into a series of coded spaces. Through a programmatic sequence, the viewer’s senses are awakened by dramatic changes in light, surfaces, the sounds of running water, and the scent of landscape, sea, and air. This emergent waterscape brings together a community by allowing the experience of water to be explored through public bathing and the poetics of landscape.
